Season 2, Episode 22: "Three Minutes"

TITLE -
The title of this episode is "Three Minutes." This is how long Michael gets to see Walt.

I was a bit unimpressed with this episode. Only because it is the first episode in a very long time where we don't really find out any new information. Last weeks episode was so big so I guess the writers are making us wait for the big finale. It was a good episode, don't get me wrong, but nothing about it was a shocker to me. I guess because I had already pretty much known that Michael was setting the rest of the survivors up because he had made a "deal" with the Others in order to get Walt back. (which I still say they won't do)

ALEX
Once again, Alex (Danielle's daughter) makes an appearance. The last time we saw her was in the flashbacks from when Claire was taken by the Others. She seemed sympathetic to her and told Claire the Others were bad. She seemed to truly be a "good" person and helped Claire to escape. Now we see the truth about what happened when Kate was captured and the Others met up with Jack, Locke and Sawyer in the jungle. Alex was helping Kate and assured her everything would be okay. She also reassured Michael and seemed genuinely concerned about Claire, wanting to know if she had her baby, etc. It is very strange that Alex has been able to live as one of the Others for all of her sixteen years yet she has not "become" one of them. She is obviously different than them. Is she "special" like Walt and was that why she was taken from her mother as a baby as well?

INJECTIONS
Just like those that Desmond took, and the injections that the Others gave Claire, now we have a vaccine that Charlie has got his hands on and given to Claire. As we can only imagine, these "injections" are not necessarily saving anyone from this "sickness" but in fact may be CREATING it. They have all been on the island for atleast 2 months and none of them has gotten "sick." Yet Danielle and Desmond both talk about getting this sickness. The hatches are all quarantines. We still have no answers about the sickness. What is this vaccine for? I don't think it's to prevent a sickness but maybe it's actually some kind of psychological "steroid" which helps enhance the special "powers" that some of these people have? Maybe Charlie will get some of these powers now (he injected himself to test it out) as well as baby Aaron?

WARNING
Walt tries to warn his dad that the Others are not who they say they are. Michael is tricked into believing that they live in tents and that they are uncivilized and that the survivors can "take them." The Others are setting him up to do exactly what he is doing. They WANT him to bring the rest of his people to them so they can capture them, however Michael has no idea that they are as civilized as they are. Walt knows the truth and tried to warn his dad but he was unable to get the message across.

QUESTIONS ABOUT WALT
The woman at the Others camp asks Michael all sorts of questions about Walt's past. For example she asks if he was ever in a place where he wasn't supposed to be. Since Michael was not around for his childhood, he does not know the answers. However, what if Walt really was in some place that Michael didn't know about? He has no evidence that he was actually in Europe the whole time. The one time that Michael says he's going to go after Walt he conveniently gets hit by a car. What if Walt's mom was a part of Dharma? Maybe that was why she took him away from Michael. What if Walt had been used for psychological experiments before? What if HE had something to do with the plane going down? This woman asked if Michael was his biological father. This is why they took his blood. Because if he is, then he could possibly have the same special powers that Walt has, and they would want him for further testing as well. (So, when Michael comes back and is supposed to go "free" with Walt, I think they are going to take him as well for "testing.")

THE LIST
The Others give Michael a list of four names, and only FOUR, of the survivors to bring back with him. Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sawyer. Interestingly enough, they do not want Locke (as Henry told him). Why do they want Sawyer. Does this mean that all four of them, deep down, truly are GOOD people? Michael goes to great lengths to make sure it is only these four that come with him. When Sayid wants to come, Michael says no and it has to be done his way. Sayid knows he is lying, as he has a way of knowing when people are lying (just like with Henry).
