Season 2, Episode 19: "S.O.S."

TITLE
The title of this episode is S.O.S.

HEALING POWERS
Rose is very much opposed to the Bernard idea to create an SOS. Now we know it is because of her healing by the island and not because she thinks Bernard is giving people false hope. If she leaves her cancer will come back. If true then if Locke leaves then he will be crippled again. Bernard agrees that he and Rose will never leave. Rose also seems to be the only one of the survivors who knows that Locke was once crippled because she saw him at the airport in Australia. We know she knows when she says we both know it is not going to take that long referring to Locke healing.

ISAAC ULURU
Uluru, more commonly known as Ayers Rock, is a large sandstone rock formation in central Australia, in the Northern Territory. It is located in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, 350 km southwest of Alice Springs. Uluru is sacred to the Aborigines and has many springs, waterholes, rock caves and ancient paintings. Note also that Isaac is a biblical name. When Rose walks in there are crutches and thank you notes everywhere. This man is no fake apparently. Isaac seems to sense some kind of energy around Rose that prevents her from being healed at that location in Australia but the psychic believes that there could be another location with the right energy to heal her. Isaac does not know where this energy comes from but he says it is in certain places on earth. He theorizes that this energy may be geological, magnetic or something else. Remember part of the Dharma project is to do experiments in electromagnetism as seen in Orientation. Is he speaking of psychic energy? Perhaps it is electromagnetic and psychic energy combined into a new kind of energy that we have never seen before. The island must be a hotspot for this energy.

IS HENRY AN OTHER?
Notice the fiendish look on the face of Henry when Locke pounds on the door asking if he really pushed the button. He smiles in such an evil way. I definitely think he is an OTHER. I think he is a deliberate spy, sent there to infiltrate the camp just as Ethan was. But what was his mission? To get them to stop pushing the button? He knows something about the hatch that the survivors do not know. Unless the whole hatch thing is some kind of psychological experiment and Henry is just one of the variables they throw in there and then they study the results from his interaction. Otherwise why would THE OTHERS want them to stop pushing the button when they know it could destroy the whole island? Or if they even had a doubt if it was real why would they do it? What harm would it do to let them go on pressing? Perhaps they know what the incident is that is referred to in the Orientation film if one actually occurred or they know that nothing really happened.

OTIS REDDING
The song playing on the radio when Rose and Bernard met was by Otis Redding. Later the song playing in the hatch was also by Otis Redding. Coincidence? Also Otis died in a plane crash in 1967.

MICHAEL IS BACK
We finally see Michael again. Notice Michael has a torch with him. He did not leave with that torch that we know of. But who has torches like that? THE OTHERS! We saw in the jungle that the OTHERS carry exactly the same kind of torches that Michael was holding when he showed up. Was Michael then captured by them and then escaped? Did Alex help him? I wonder if he saw Walt. I thought it was a little coincidental that Michael just showed up right when Jack and Kate were there. Unless he heard them. It was kind of like Claire showing up to Locke.
