Season 2, Episode 11: "The Hunting Party"

JACK'S WIFE
So we finally find out what happened with Jack's marriage. We are led to believe that HE was the one cheating, but come to find out she was having an affair and wants to leave him. Jack spends pretty much all his waking moments at the hospital, consumed in his job and in needing to "fix" things. His work is more important than his marriage. Also note she took a pregnancy test, and said "Don't worry, it was negative" as if it were GOOD news.

THE OTHERS
The survivors finally meet up with the Others in the jungle. Once again they seem to appear out of nowhere, without any warning. This time there are lots of them, though we don't see or hear from any of them except Zeke. This is the same guy who took Walt (beared guy). Notice he knows all of their names. He also seems to know everything that has been going on around the island. He is certain that Michael will not find them and that he was heading in the wrong direction looking for Walt. (this shows that it was not in fact Walt talking to Michael on the computer and telling him where to come find him - If the Others are in fact "watching" them at all times, they would have known when Michael was alone at the computer therefore trying to trick him into thinking it was Walt.)

The Others use Kate as a trade. Knowing that Jack will not let anything happen to her. They have obviously been watching them and know how to push their buttons and what they need to do to get what they want from them. When Kate is brought out Zeke says “bring her out Alex.” Alex was the name of Rousseau’s baby that was kidnapped. Does this mean that they raised Alex and then made her one of their own?

There are lots of references to "this is OUR island" and the whole thing about going into someone's house and not going into rooms where you had no business. The Others have obviously been on the island a LONG time and think of it as THEIR home. They warned them not to cross the line. One thing I noticed is that they could have easily just killed them, but chose not to. They are letting them stay and live. We have been led to believe this whole time that the Others are bad, and will kill them, but really they have not shown any violence except when it was provoked. They may not be as "bad" as we think.

HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO TRAIN AN ARMY?
Jack asks Ana Lucia at the end about raising an army. This is exactly what I have been thinking, since day one. Sooner or later, they are going to become "savages" - just like in Lord of the Flies. We also saw in very early episodes (season 1) references to "our side" and "their side" - emphasizing that sooner or later they would be divided. If they do train an "army" there will certainly be backlash between Locke and Jack. Locke seems like he does not want to go to war, use guns, etc. whereas Jack is now all for it. This is going to take an interesting turn...
