Season 2, Episode 5: "Lost...and Found"

TITLE
"Lost...and Found" - obvious reference to Sun losing her wedding ring, but also to Locke - he says "I'm not lost anymore" - says things are more easily found when you stop looking (reference to him finding his "hope" and "faith" on the island).

DESTINY
Jin's friend was looking through the book of Destiny and telling him he will find Love. Jin unknowingly came into contact with his future wife several times at the hotel, without knowing...however "destiny" prevailed and he ran into her on the street. Notice he turned to look at the girl in the Orange dress, which ultimately made him run into Sun. (His friend said Love would be orange.) Jin later ends up falling in love and marrying Sun, (and the SUN is orange.)

TEDDY BEAR
The teddy bear was being dragged by a child through the forest. The teddy bear had a bandage around its leg (just like Michael broke his leg, also Locke had lost the use of his legs, Boone died while Jack was trying to save his leg) and was being dragged by a rope (Charlie was hung by a rope) - just some possible connections. Also, when Desmond was packing up his things to run into the jungle, he packed a teddy bear. Weird.

CHILDREN
Walt was taken, Claire’s baby was taken, Alex (Danielle's child) was taken....there is some reason the "others" want children. Also when walking through the forest there was a child at the end of the line. Are the Dharma people doing some kind of experimentation with children? The shot of their feet walking through the forest was very reminiscent of Peter Pan and the "lost boys" (with the boy dragging the teddy bear).

LOCKE
Once again Locke comes to the rescue with great worldly advice to help his fellow castaways in need and make them realize some great thing. Locke as the "Philosopher." (He has done this with almost everyone on the island...Jack, Charlie, Boone, Clair, Sun...to make them "see" what they need to see). Interesting because in his life back home, Locke could not do this for himself (Helen was actually the one who helped him "see" the truth about his father, and whe was the one who made him take that “leap of faith”).

KATE
Kate is looking through the messages in the bottle. She indicated it had something to do with not saying goodbye to Sawyer. However I think she was trying to hide some message that maybe she wrote, something about her past? I think deep down, Kate has an ulterior motive. Something fishy about that.

MICHAEL & JIN
Interesting dynamic between Michael and Jin...these two used to hate eachother (remember the fight they got into when Jin beat Michael up, also the reason Jin has the handcuff on his wrist) - yet now Jin will stop at nothing to find Michael and truly wants to help him. Michael even calls Jin his "friend" (but not Sawyer!) - interesting how these two did a total 180. I think Jin's backstory shows him as an honorable person (quitting his job at the hotel), because before we just thought of him as this "mobster" and killing people, which he became AFTER meeting Sun and going to work for his father. He has been controlling and demanding of her on the island. But now, when away from her, he sort of goes back to his old ways "honorable" - the way he was before Sun. And so this further helps the storyline of him wanting to help Michael.

MR. ECHO
Why is it that the rest of the tail-end survivors are terrified of the others and want to get away from them. But Echo doesn't seem hesitant to go off into the jungle with Jin to help look for Michael. He doesn't seem scared at all, while Ana Lucia and her crew want to get out of there asap. In fact when they hide in the bushes when the people walk by, Echo does not look very scared. You would he would have been a bit
terrified to just let them walk on by so closely. Kind of makes me think the people walking by were NOT the "others." Maybe they were some of the other people from the plane? Just because there are only 5 left of the original 23 does NOT mean they are dead. They never said they were dead. Once again, could be a Lord of the Flies/dividing of the two tribes thing here. As we have seen there seem to be a lot of different groups of people all living on this island.

REPEATED QUOTES - we have seen these same lines repeated...

"We have trust issues" - Libby said to Michael about why they threw them in the pit. (Same quote was said by Kate in one of her earlier flashbacks, about having "trust" issues while she was on the run.)

"They leave no tracks" - Echo said about the others. Also was said by Locke when Desmond went running off into the woods (Locke said he tried to find him but he left no tracks. Is Desmond an "other?") The same line was said in the season finale when Charlie and Sayid find the fire where the black smoke is rising (looking for Aaron) and they said there were no tracks around the fire.

"See you in another life..." - Desmond said to Jack, also Nadia wrote this to Sayid on the back of her picture.
