Sorry I have been MIA!

Sorry, sorry, sorry....I apologize for not getting the blog done last week. But it is nice to know that I have been missed :)

Well it is Wednesday night (march 7), just watched tonight's new episode of Lost and now I just read the comments from last week's post and I had to laugh out loud until my husband asked me what was so funny. I read the comments to him from people asking if everything was okay and that they NEEDED my blog! Awww, come on - you don't need me! I guess you guys are not going to let me off the hook here. (I was slowly going to try and phase this out, because I am just soooooo busy lately, but I guess you are not going to let that happen, huh!)

And yes, everything is okay (thanks for asking!) but I am just SO busy right now, work has taken over my life! I am the busiest I have ever been (but that is a good thing) so this Lost blog is not exactly my priority (shocking, I know!) And for those of you who want to see what I do in REAL life and to understand why I have no time to write my Lost blogs, click here for my website.

Okay, anyway, here is last week's post (it is short, sorry - but there really was not much to work with from last week!) and then I will write the one for tonight's episode in the morning...I promise!

SEASON 3, EPISODE 10: "TRICIA TANAKA IS DEAD"

The title of this episode - TRICIA TANAKA IS DEAD - refers to the newscaster who was killed while interviewing Hurley. Yet another death that Hurley feels responsible for, due to the bad luck brought on by the numbers. It seems that everyone dies around Hurley. All of this since his winning the lottery with the "cursed" numbers. In previous episodes, we have seen that his grandfather died, his mother's house burned down, a man fell out of a window while he was at his accountant's office, and now in this episode we see that Mr. Clucks - the chicken place that he used to work at which he just purchased - was hit by a meteor. The odds of all of that happening to one person are very slim. Yet Hurley seems to be a magnet to bad luck and death around those who come into contact with him.

So we learn through flashbacks the story behind Hurley's father. Once again, more father issues! Does ANYONE on this island have a good relationship with their father? So, anyway, we learn that Hurley's father abandoned him and his mother when he was a child. He promised he would come right back and they were going to go to the Grand Canyon together, but he never came back. His father had told him "never give up hope, you make your own luck." But after his dad left, Hurley lost the ability to have hope. Notice also that he was thin as a child, and after his dad left he started eating and gained all the weight. (I thought it was funny when his dad came back and he said to his mother "you weren't kidding about the chocolate bars.") But, being abandoned by his father left him hopeless. He never recovered from it. Now, in present time on the island, Hurley, though he tries, he does not have hope. He wants to, but he doesn't really believe in hope. It is not until he is plummeting down the hill in the old van that his luck finally changes and he realizes what his dad said to him - you have to make your own luck - and for the first time, he truly has hope. The car starts and he is finally able to believe. I think that Hurley's luck - or lack of it - will start to change. He had to believe that he could make his own luck - his own FATE - to be able to rid himself of this "curse." And as he told Charlie - that he will probably die because people always die around him - I think that Charlie's fate has changed now too, since Hurley was able to gain hope and with the help of Charlie, I think now that Charlie's "fate" has changed as well, and he won't die as Desmond had predicted. In a way, it's as if Hurley's newfound sense of hope has changed the outcome of the future.

Sorry if my thoughts are scattered - I just wrote this really quickly! It sucked, I know. But there really was not much going on last week so there wasn't much for me to say. Plus I'm tired! Okay, but I promise I will do tonights' episode ("Enter 77") first thing in the morning (well, maybe not first thing...but I will do it!) So check back later in the day.

TG you're back! :) I figured you were trying to phase yourself out -- lost has kind of sucked lately. BUT IT'S BACK -- last night was the best so far (since the hiatus). YESsssss. There seemed to be TONS of clues - most of which I missed - so hopefully you can help.
Also - I like your photo-site! Nice one!
